In Conversation with 'Pav Bhaji' is hosted by NCAD Fine Art Media artist graduate Steph Saidha. For the event, Saidha has planned to invite 20 members of the public to come together in the NCAD Harry Clarke House space to eat a meal of pav bhaji prepared by the artist.
.
Organised to work in tandem with the graduate artist’s degree presentation, In Conversation with ‘Pav Bhaji' provides Saidha’s exhibition the socially-engaged element already embedded within her practice. By creating a social space that surrounds the sharing of food and conversation with square bales of hay from her family farm arranged as seating. As a popular Indian street food dish, the making of pav bhaji was passed on to the artist by her aunt. However, it is not a commonly known dish in Ireland - providing the artist an opportunity to encourage a fresh look into Indian cuisine and an entry point to collectively discuss culture and migration.
.
Through eating together a rich conversation and the exchange of personal experiences can emerge. After the Pav bhaji meal, members of the publlic are invited on a tour of the graduate artist's Steph Saidha exhibition space in the Fine Art Media Department.
.
Dietary Information: Pav bhaji is a spiced vegetable dish with bread on the side.
