My father was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) when I was a few months old. Growing up, none of my friends had a parent with a chronic illness so it was not something I could easily talk about. MS is a chronic disease of the central nervous system. It is unpredictable and can affect everyone differently.
The objective for this research project is to raise awareness of MS across different audiences:
Children whose parents have MS or another chronic condition;
Families of MS patients;
MS patients who may need help but hesitate to ask;
General public.
With these audiences in mind, I have developed three different outcomes:A children’s book My Daddy has MS which illustrates my own personal experience;
Symptom cards that MS patients can use when they need help;
Life-size cutouts sharing the personal stories of three different people who have MS.
