Maura explored her identity as an artist, researcher, and educator through The Change Lab initiative, which used arts-based research methods. Her goal was to incorporate these concepts into her teaching methods to inspire imaginative exploration and analytical thinking, and to enhance her students' understanding of current topics.
Educators have a responsibility to effectively communicate their expertise and enable students to apply their knowledge beyond the classroom, integrating education into daily life experiences.
Collaborating with fellow student teachers, Maura created a body of work that critically examined social injustices and unsustainable practices, providing empowerment and inspiration.
The Change Lab initiative fostered a strong commitment in Maura to teach for social justice and sustainability, which she continues to prioritise in her teaching practice. By approaching teaching from an artist-researcher perspective, Maura brings a unique outlook and approach to her work as an educator.
