Shauna Rachael McGeoghan is a visual artist from Donegal, who works with a range of digital media with a specific emphasis on film and photography.
Human experiences and emotions have always been a topic of interest to her, which is why they are a central theme in her practice. She tends to channel her personal life experiences into her work, often focusing on challenging or “negative” emotions such as ambivalence, resentment, anger and loneliness.
Shauna Rachael’s current project, Wood & Bone, is a short film which addresses the conflicting feeling of ambivalence about where we come from. It refers to an almost universal narrative of growing up in a small rural town, and looks deeper into what it means to call somewhere home.
Wood & Bone is a visual diary or anti-love letter from the artist to her hometown.
