My practice explores the idea of sound as a reaction to an action, and how it can be manipulated to create a new experience. I isolate sounds and play them in unfamiliar environments, to which I create a 'soundless-scape' that is unfamiliar.
My goal is to create a sensory soundless-scape that is both captivating and thought-provoking, allowing the viewer to experience something new and unexpected. The goal is to evoke an emotional response within the viewer.
The use of old CRT TV’s allowed me to make my own oscilloscopes and to create the visuals to enhance the experience of 'unknowing' and curiosity. The intention is to allow the viewer to be engulfed by the 'visual' of the sound, without having to hear (or see) where the sound originated from. It takes the viewer on a new journey that is unfamiliar to them; whereas to hear would be to create a familiar experience.
Through the use of visuals, technology and printmaking, I have created an installation which allows the viewer to react to the action that emphasises the movement of sound through the use of oscillations.
