Beyond the Trees is a collection of woven interior textiles, that takes inspiration from the structure and landscape at Avondale House tree top walk in Wicklow. The focus was to create a collection of tactile textiles to be used in the home.
Through the use of double cloth techniques on the loom, for example pleating and stuffing, I was able to create three dimensional designs. The juxtaposition of the towering wooden walkway surrounded by a sea of eucalyptus trees influenced the formation and composition of my textile collection, as well as the vivid, natural colour story.
In a circular and sustainable design effort, the collection is woven from wool, which lends itself naturally to interior use. The three dimensional aspect of this textile collection invites individuals to interact and play with the interior fabrics through touch and feel.
