The action of making a decision is surrounded by many outside influences. My research has been largely informed by psychoanalysis in conjunction with it’s theorists. Jung believed that we as humans are connected to each other and our ancestors through a set of shared experiences. Freud tells us that the unconscious mind is shaped through our relations with other people and is something that largely determines our behaviour and our actions.
This work wishes to pose ontological questions about DNA, genetics, and archetypes using the micro and the macro. How we make decisions is determined by our past generations. The work concerns a mothers influence. I am interested in maternal inheritance, the transfer of mitochondrial DNA you inherit from your 'mother' which could be inherited from her 'mother' and so on, influencing the way you act and make decisions Making a choice might be as biological as it is metaphysical.
