From childhood, the bog was always a common feature in the local landscape. Throughout the seasons, one was always conscious of the colour, texture and the sound of the bog.
In the bog nature talks – all the senses are aroused.
Each season brings its own display of plants and wildlife. In order to survive, man and his fellow organism have to dig deep in order to hold on.
In this watery region, life, death, beauty and decay all co-exist.
To convey the depth, resilience, fragility and colour found in the bog, different surfaces are used.
Some materials used are charcoal, inks, coloured pencils, and limited use of acrylic paint. Textured grounds allow an element of chance in the work, while collage pieces are used to explore a more abstract interpretation of landscape forms and structures.
