My present body of work originates from an exploration of sculptural forms rooted in the Covid-19 pandemic. Sculpture was my outlet for manipulating space and material at a time of collective disempowerment and loss of control over the environment we inhabit. These pieces reflect an atmosphere of horror and the macabre, in the grey skin of ghoulish disembodied hands and feet.

I am influenced by Greek mythology, a lore which is replete with monsters, but also with heroes that can defeat them. Other influences include Kiki Smith and Alice Maher, women artists whose practices investigate the human condition with a strong sense of physicality.

I examine the circularity of life through the use of materials such as bronze that mirror nature’s cycle of metamorphosis and renewal. Sculptural mediums communicate in a manner similar to body language – mostly unconsciously – but underlying both our surface impressions and our deepest instincts.
