My work explores the shared ownership and thought found in the visual language of the internet, and how it creates a unique, maximalist glimpse at the culture that will drive the population of a purely internet driven world. As memes continue to grow as the ‘blood’ of the internet – which passes between platforms, users, and borders – my practice continues to explore the deeper trends emerging in the worn paths of online culture. It explores how the simple jokes, layered references, characters, and more, all get melded together in new ways that are often difficult to parse.
My aim in making this work is to take all of these images, reassert my ownership over them in my personal choice and curation, and present it in a new context. I hope to help people re-evaluate the meaning, value, and ownership of images and their respective cultures.
