Profanity is a socially offensive use of language; can it be even more offensive in another language? For Julia, who is bilingual, being able to swear in two languages has been very useful and fun. Though she swears in both languages, Polish profanities are way more offensive, powerful, and satisfying to use.
Through her book, titled Kurwa she wanted to guide and educate people on Polish swear words. Many people who don’t know the language would only know one curse word which is 'Kurwa' as it is the most known one, but many people don’t even know the meaning of it.
The book includes all the basics of Polish swearing and pronunciations. It is a pocket-sized book with a slanted format to highlight the obsceneness of profanities.
Accompanying the book is a display typeface titled Profane. It is inspired by profanities, with its sharp serifs it represents the offensiveness and intensity of swear words.
