Stories, myths, and legends are intricately linked to the human experience. As an illustrator, I am interested in exploring how art, with its limitless potential, can bring to life these characters and worlds which only existed previously as spoken or written word.
Using both traditional and digital media, my work explores narratives from different cultures as well as across different time periods. If we are to immerse ourselves in these stories and histories, we can escape from the monotony of daily life and gain knowledge about different cultures and historical periods.
For my project, I explored the cultures and stories of indigenous, Austronesian tribes in Taiwan. With many of their customs and traditions dwindling in the modern age, creative media is one way in which their cultures and identities can be preserved and shared.
