Juxtaposing the material with the divine, Megan Hanlon’s work combines poetry, synesthesia and paint to explore the relationship between the living and the dead.
Examining her interest in the supernatural, Hanlon approaches the themes of memory and miscommunication with a human tenderness and uncertainty, viewing the object as a first-hand witness to the passing of time. Using the ribbon motif as a representation of life and celebration, Hanlon investigates the ways in which we cling to fragments of the past, sometimes to the detriment of our own clarity.
Hanlon wanders intuitively between oil, watercolour, printmaking, illustration and photography.
