My work explores concepts of control, influence and order. As both an educator and an artist, I recognise that my work and practice are in a constant state of evolution. I strive to reflect this notion in my art, particularly in the creation of a kinetic sculpture. The construction of the sculpture represents the symbolic balance between artist and teacher identities, as the work adapts to a given environment.
The Change Lab experience presented opportunities for collaborative research within the theme of Sustainable Cities and Communities. Themes surrounded the Irish attitude towards ownership, class, and the global mythos of romantic Ireland. A postcard is a quintessential expression of a moment in time. I created several postcard designs challenging the idea of place. We invited the audience to share their stories of living and preserving a home while exploring the policies and historical stumbling blocks that have created the current housing climate.
