My final year collection, Mind Threads, is a women’s wear printed textile collection that explores the emotions and experiences of individuals struggling with mental health.
The title refers to the idea of interconnectedness between our thoughts and emotions, which is a central theme of the collection. The designs feature abstract patterns, textures and shapes that are inspired by the feelings of those who are suffering.
To create these designs I made a series of mono prints and scans to capture textures from everyday objects and fabrics. I used a variety of print techniques including devore, embroidery and flock to help emphasise keys elements within the prints.
Throughout the design process, I paid close attention to colour theory and used colour to convey different emotions. Pops of yellow are used throughout the pieces to create a sense of hope even in darker times.
