At the heart of this knitwear project inspired by the sea and natural environment is a commitment to sustainability. Throughout the project, I strived to use materials, processes, and techniques that are environmentally responsible and minimise waste.
To achieve this, 100% pure, high-end, sustainable yarns and fibres were used that have a lower environmental impact. Natural dyes including a beautiful blue indigo that are non-toxic and biodegradable draws on inspiration from the natural dyeing processes I saw used on a silk farm in Cambodia that I visited while researching for this collection. As a result, I have developed my own sustainable practice for my creations.
Drawing inspiration from the textures, colours, and patterns found in the sea and natural environment, I choose organic natural forms with contrast between the shells of the sea and the hybrid mushrooms on land to create organic form and movement.
Ultimately, this project was focused on creating beautiful and responsible textiles.
