What Do Sleeping Birds Look Like? is a series of oil paintings on wooden panels that depict imagery inspired by the subtle epicness of the natural world. The shells, plants, and birds act as symbols of the beauty and fragility of life.
The work plays with the idea of the relationship between life and death and the fine line between the two: time. Our lifespan is ephemeral in comparison to the mountains and oceans, but we are all living our first lives and are oblivious to the uniqueness of the relationship we share with our longevous cohabitors.
The work wishes to remind the viewer of the preciousness of our time here in a lighthearted and gentle way. Nature is a brutal force, and this work is my love letter to life.
